PRIMED Institute

01

Conocer los fundamentos de una educación el carácter efectiva

We will use the PRIMED model, developed by Professor Marvin W. Berkowitz, as a guide to introduce attendees to an effective perspective for addressing the transformation of the educational center. Those leading this change need to understand the principles that underpin the practices they will later implement.

02

Strengthen team relationships through experiential learning

Implementing a change of this magnitude, which directly affects the culture of the community, requires a united team eager to take on this ambitious challenge. During the Institute, attendees will have the opportunity to bond with their fellow team members, share many hours of conversation and enjoy a good time together.

03

Develop an action plan for the next academic year

With the knowledge gained from the PRIMED model, attendees are invited to make an action plan for the next academic year. This kind of transformation requires several years of work. The plan developed as a result of these days can serve to open the way and introduce the perspective of character education in their communities. Participants will be mentored by the PRIMED facilitators.

The PRIMED Institute is for leadership teams of educational centers. It is recommended that principals or directors attend with their leadership team. However, it is also possible for teams to attend, even if their leader is missing.

The PRIMED Institute is conducted in one intensive week with five highly interactive workshops of eight hours each, Monday through Friday. Lunches and dinners, included in the fee, should also be taken into account as strategic moments to cultivate team relationships.

It will take place at the RACE Golf Club in Madrid, from June 30 to July 4, 2025.

Those who complete the program can receive certification from Become and the Center for Character and Citizenship at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

What is the PRIMED model

The PRIMED model is an acronym for six design principles for school improvement that integrate 42 character education effective practices for schools identified in studies, reviews, and meta-analyses from the last quarter of a century.

Effective means that these practices are supported by scientific evidence, including statistical tests of the significance of their impact in character development. Rather than specific practices or strategies, these principles are six reminders of what should be considered to design each practice and strategy to effectively transform educational institutions into communities that cultivate moral and civic virtues in strategic and intentional ways. This is a brief description of each one of them.

Our programs are offered in Spanish for Spanish-speaking countries and in English for the rest of the countries. If we have a facilitator in the country we can offer an adapted version in the language of that country.

Our programs are always attended in person. We consider it essential for the purpose of each program.

The Executive and Focused programs are not dependent on each other to achieve their objectives. They can be taken independently in a satisfactory manner. However, they are complementary programs, which often leads many people to want to take them in succession.

Our experience is that the expected results are obtained both when leaders start with the executive program and when they start with the focused program. Each option has its advantages and disadvantages. Given the difficulty of time constraints, we recommend that you do what works best for your circumstances.
